Hi, gang. Please check this out... on the Forum tab there is a new Critique Group just for ISS group members. Here's your chance to get informed comments on works you select from others who have been part of the Intensive Studies Seminar.
Jacqui, I am creating an ISS Critique group under the Groups tab. You all should be able to add new art in your regular method, then broadcast to the whole Critique Group the name of the pieces on which you wish comment / critique. You could also establish your own parameters to get the information from others that tells you what you want to know.
Jacqui, probably there need to be parameters set for how crit group participants do a crit that would be helpful. I suggested to Alan and Steph that you all talk among yourselves about what these should be. Also, you might want to read the comments about this on the Forum discussion.
Hi Jacqui! I was your painting buddy across the table from you in Taos this spring... I just got around to joining. Now to look at the website and get involved! How are the ladders? Sally B. Bailey
My best friend since grade school (Jacqui Banaszynski) and I both paint with Fran Larsen in her Santa Fe studio every year. Jacqui lives in Seattle - and my friends call me Beck! I think we three are destined to meet one day.
Jacqui, on the Forum board on this site Alan Brain and Stephany Nickel were both talking about hoping that there would be good crits available on the site. When I saw their discussion, I thought that we ought to start a crit group...whether within the ISS group or for the site at large, I am not sure. Steph and Alan have agreed to work on ground rules for such a site, and Steph suggested that you might want to be part of that. How about it?

Thank you for the comments on Wash Day - Helper. I'm just heading to the studio and I think I'm going to do another one...maybe more gesture. Your gesture in the scrubbing floor painting has inspired me. Also, don't you love doing paintings of the unexpected? I mean who does "mopping the bathroom floor" or "hanging wash"? Well maybe it has been done; but not as often as flowers (yes, I love flowers) but like really different flower paintings. I'm rambling....off to paint.
I paint in acrylic using many layers. My color palette is usually vibrant, and my subject matter is anything that fascinates me in the moment. I love painting people, chickens, and plants. Lately I've been painting musical instruments, dogs, and step ladders.
About Me:
I am a full time painter and art instructor. I am fascinated by the creative process and how to continually delve deeper into my own creativity. I play the guitar, piano, and banjo, and am learning how to sing harmonies around the piano. I live in Seattle, WA with my husband, Bill, and my daughters, Sarah and Elise.

I love the sense of motion in your paintings.
