Thank you for your comments. When they say every painting is a self portrait...it is absolutely true. The source for that painting are two separate photos. One of my mother and one of me. Without getting all pscho here...you nailed the emotion. Amazing because I wasn't totally aware of it myself. I did know that I always felt a need to help her. WOW! I'm blown away.
There is a better transition for the child's hair and laundry basket in the original. It didn't come as clear in the photo.

What medium do you work in?
haven't settled to one medium - still working to achieve some level of proficiency in all of them before i make up my mind. Most often bounce between watercolour and oil but lately have started an affair with encaustic.
