Hi!
I just love the intricacy of this painting with those lovely colours. It reminds me some of how Gaugan used colours and what a master he was.
I too am using watercolour on canvas with dorlands wax to protect it. How are you finding it? I find it…
hey Megan! Just stopping by to say hi and take a look at those yummy colors of yours. Page looks good and I am crazy about your friend Nut-meg. Hope all is well and keep us posted!

Hi Megan,
I tried using more staples, and stapling them in further away from the edge of the paper. Seems to work! Glad to hear you're going to Taos. It's such a great experience. I may go next year. Thanks again for the technical advice! - Bill
Hi Megan...I can't believe it's almost been a year since ISS...are you going this year? I'm writing you because I have a technical "challenge" and thought you might have some advice for me. I'm working with Arches 140 lb paper that comes in 10 yd rolls. I'd like to staple (?) a five foot length of it to an interior door and paint large. I tried soaking the paper first, then stapling it, but it pulled away from the staples when it dried and buckled. Any ideas on how to deal with this? - Bill
Thanks for the commenton my work .Have you ever used bleeding tissue paper i'ts alot of fun most of the time I just tear and paste and look for something to work with. I like the way it runs together. Thanks again Roger L Huffenberger
Hello, Art Buddies ! I have been mostly away from ArtBuddies for a couple of months. I just closed a 2-month show of 11 pieces at a gallery here in Petaluma, CA (north of San Francisco). I was the 'emerging artist' and our friend from ISS, Christopher Schink, was the main attraction. Of course, he's quite fun and funny and during the public events it was a lot easier because he's such a pro. It was a good experience for me. I am actually a bit shy and have a hard time talking about myself...I think I would rather stick needles into my eyeballs than try to explain what "I'm trying to do" or "how on earth did I come up with THAT..." (Lord knows how I come up with anything...it's a little embarrassing, given that it is me or at least my hands and arms that have come up with whatever it is, so theoretically I should KNOW....) And--so many different points of view...this was very interesting... That is, the pieces I felt were maybe the 'weakest' from my point of view had comments from people that these were their favorites.
So the show ended Sunday Aug. 17. The evening of Monday Aug. 18 (last night) I was juried into a gallery a couple of doors off the Sonoma plaza that I had applied to a couple of months earlier. Sonoma is a rather cute, highly touristy, "wine country" town that is overrun by visitors who come up here to "wine taste" every Sat. and Sun during most of the year. This jury last night looked at the same pieces that were in the show. Before I left the room for 20 minutes while they deliberated, they told me they were concerned about these tiny little things that hadn't occurred to anyone, to my knowlege, while the show was up for 2 months. (concern and criticism about an uneven white border from masking tape and the way the thing was framed). I had never even thought of this... Oh, God, I thought, well, I guess they aren't going to jury me in. I left the room for 20 minutes during 'deliberations..' I came back. They ended up accepting me, anyway! Okay, so I now have a 'home gallery.' A new experience for me. Time to start creating again. Hopefully ideas will come! I have loads of ideas and none, all at the same time. And I'm so glad Michael Phelps won 8 gold medals. I feel so proud of him. ..... megan...
Hi, gang. Please check this out... on the Forum tab there is a new Critique Group just for ISS group members. Here's your chance to get informed comments on works you select from others who have been part of the Intensive Studies Seminar.
Hey Megan,
I trust you made it home fine!
I've been working steadily since ISS!
Perhaps sometime this summer you can drop by the library at the Petaluma Campus and say hi! I'm always up for a cup of coffee at the Starbucks at the G&G shopping center next door! Keep it in mind. It would be fun to catch up on painting news! - Bill Shelley
